Eternal Time?
November 4, 2009
One of the real tricks to this project is figuring out what eternal time actually is. I guess you could ask the question, “is time really eternal?” Some would say yes, some would say no. I tend to be under the impression that time really isn’t eternal. Everything is finite but that doesn’t mean that there aren’t certain things that can seem eternal or feel like an eternity to experience. The human experience is such an incredibly short one compared to other things, that its easy for us to label anything that’s got a longer span of existence than us to be eternal. The earth, which has been around for a few billion years will eventually be stripped of its atmosphere by either the sun or us when the death knell comes. The seasons seem to be in constant cycle but even they can change depending upon the severity of climate change. Fire, water, wind, these too have a place as well as being eternal but even these things are not truly constant, only the atoms which they can be deconstructed into seem to be eternal since we know matter cannot be destroyed, here since the beginning of the universe.
Either way, I’ve decided I would like to do a picture video collage of the seasons. Something that has established itself to be eternal in the human consciousness but in reality is just as impermanent as everything else. Sounds kind of like a moody dive into Existentialism but hopefully the happy colors will cheer everyone up.
